Sitges makes a commitment to Golf tourism
From 5 to 8 October, the Agència de Promoció Turisme de Sitges, in collaboration with the Sitges Terramar Golf Club, is participating in the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), the number one international golf market.
The International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), the number one international golf market in the world, will be bringing together more than 600 golf tourism suppliers, 350 buyers and 100 media outlets at the “Magma Art & Conference Center” in Tenerife.
Sitges will be attending as a destination, included at the stand belonging to the Agència Catalana de Turisme (Catalan Tourism Agency), for the first time at this year’s market, creating synergies with the Sitges Terramar Golf Club, a public-private collaboration generating a great opportunity for our destination. So in this way, Sitges will be promoted as an ideal destination to enjoy vacations based on playing golf, both professionally and on an amateur level. “Promoting the destination by boosting sports tourism and, in this case, with the practice of golf, is an opportunity to seasonally adjust the demand and attract the arrival of visitors all year round”, explains the Town Councilwoman for Tourism, Aurora Carbonell.
The supply of accommodations, sun and sand, culture, gastronomy, family tourism and rest and relaxation are the main attractions for the profile of tourists visiting our town. With its attendance at the IGTM, Turisme de Sitges reinforces this supply and strengthens sports tourism and, more specifically, the Golf tourism sector, a strategic sector for this destination thanks to the constant growth of the practice of this sport.
As a part of the IGTM, Turisme de Sitges and the Sitges Terramar Golf Club have scheduled 41 meeting with tour operators, travel agents and reservation websites from diverse countries: the United Kingdom, France, the Nordic Countries, Benelux and Germany. Our supply of golf, accommodation and complementary activities will be presented during these meetings with the goal of promoting our global tourism supply services.
