This year the Rally reaches its 58th edition
Barcelona-Sitges International Vintage Car Rally: 2 and 3 April, 2016.
Everything is ready for a new edition of the Barcelona-Sitges International Car Rally, to be held on 2 and 3 April. The goal of this event is to unite these two coastal cities thanks to the traditional parade of historical vehicles manufactured before 1928, a grand art collection in motion with participants from both the national and international scene and that, once again this year, will be including motorcycles manufactured before 1938.
The Barcelona-Sitges Rally will be held on two consecutive days. Saturday 2 April, starting at 10:00 and until 17:30, the registered drivers will be displaying their vehicles along Diagonal Avenue in Barcelona, in front of the I'illa Diagonal, where they’ll be making all the necessary verifications prior to the start of the race the following day. Car and history enthusiasts will also be able to enjoy an exhibition of vintage cars at L'illa Diagonal from 29 March to 16 April.
The Rally will be on Sunday 3 April and will start at 11:00, departing from Sant Jaume Square in Barcelona, with the attendance of authorities from Sitges and Barcelona. This 58th rally will be returning to the traditional itinerary, which can be found on its new website that contains information with all of the race details: www.rallybarcelonasitges.com.
Sant Jaume Square will be the starting line for the itinerary travelling through different streets in Barcelona (Ferran, Rambles, Catalunya Square, Ronda Universitat and Ronda St. Antoni, Sepúlveda, Paral•lel, Plaça Espanya and Gran Via) headed for Sitges, crossing the townships of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Viladecans, Gavà and Castelldefels, with the Garraf Coasts as a stellar enclave before arriving at the Sitges Aiguadolç Marina.
Once they arrive in town, the second part of the parade will begin. At La Fragata, at the foot of the Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla Parish Church, the vehicles will be on display until five o’clock in the afternoon. The drivers and their passengers will enjoy a gala meal, during which a jury made up of experts will present awards to the five most elegant participants, the three best motorcycles, as well as the three most outstanding automobiles according to their production date: Group I, built up to 1908; Group II, between 1909 and 1914; Group III, between 1915 and 1920; and Group IV, between 1921 and 1928.
The Barcelona-Sitges International Vintage Car Rally is organized by Foment de Sitges (Sitges Promo), the Sitges Town Council and the Barcelona City Council, and is sponsored by L'illa Diagonal, RACC and Menkes, with the support of Pere Ventura Cavas.
