The Women of Sitges Route
From the old marketplace, a meeting point for many women, to the Sant Joan Hospital, whose first benefactor was a woman, to the Municipal Art Gallery and the Maricel Museum, where you’ll find many female images, and down Avinguda Sofia (Sofia Avenue), one of the few streets dedicated to women, you’ll discover the Women of Sitges Route, a new itinerary aimed at explaining the town from its women’s point of view.
This Women of Sitges Route isn’t just a walk were you’ll see buildings and where historical events are explained..., it’s also a sentimental journey through the experiences of many women, famous or anonymous, but always representative of our history.
With the Women of Sitges Route we wish to show that women also make history and that it deserves to be explained.
