Sitges is now fully immersed in Carnival week after King Carnestoltes reached the town this Thursday evening. Officially named Sa Majestat Tattoo Filòs del Plor Antic Carnestoltes I, the king of the festival made his appearance at La Fragata after being summoned by several figures accompanying him. This Arribo celebration had to be postponed until 9 pm because of the heavy winds, but it was ultimately held. Because of this delay due to poor weather, the Predicot speech that Carnestoltes usually delivers at City Council joined the Arribo at La Fragata. 

The visit to the organisation's Xatonades went as planned in the programme of events. Both King Carnestoltes and the Carnival Queen, accompanied by their entourages, visited the Agrupació de Balls Populars, the Casino Prado and El Retiro.

This Friday was the day set aside for visiting schools and senior citizen residences, which took place despite the rain that fell throughout the morning.

This year, 2026, Carnival is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the revival of the street parades. The Rua d’Antes is slated to begin today at 7 pm after prior entertainment at Cap de la Vila with a special focus on these fifty years. Anyone in fancy dress can join the celebration, which will begin at the traditional starting point of the processions –Cap de la Vila– although this year it is going to end on Passeig de la Ribera (near the swings). Music will be the feature and the common thread running throughout this Rua d’Antes.

Carnival Saturday is confirmed as the ‘Fardo’ day, and it features the Bed Race at 12 noon and the afternoon balls on Passeig de la Ribera and in Plaça de Catalunya.

The major parades will start on Sunday. The Children's Parade will be held at 12 noon, while the Rua de la Disbauxa will kick off at 7.30 pm. More than 2,000 people and 38 floats are participating in the parades, which are expected to be the events that draw the largest crowds.
